Frequently asked questions

Which companies are listed?
Every company on the SEC's company ticker list, which covers companies whose stock trades on an exchange or over the counter and that file reports with the SEC. Private companies and most funds are not included.
How is revenue measured?
Revenue is the total for the company's most recent fiscal year as tagged in the XBRL data of its annual report (10-K, 20-F or 40-F). Fiscal years end on different dates, so two companies' years may not line up.
What is a CIK?
The Central Index Key is the number the SEC gives every company and person that files on EDGAR. It never changes, even when a company changes its name or ticker.
